Imagine yourself happy

Take a moment and really imagine yourself happy.

 

  • What would be different?
  • What would be the same?
  • Is there someone specify you would like to have in your life?
  • Or maybe there is someone you wish were no longer a part of your life.
  • What kind of activities would you be doing?
  • Is there a particular city or state you need to be in?

What is keeping you from making these changes?

 

When we are children can’t wait to be teens because we are sure they have more freedom which must make them happy.

When we are teens we realize that is not the answer either and we cannot wait to be adults.

When we are adults we realize that while we do have more freedom, we also have more responsibility and we are still not happy.

As adults we wait for Saturday and Sunday. We wait for summer vacations. We wait and we wait and we wait for happiness to happen to us.

It is time to stop waiting!

 

Close your eyes and imagine yourself happy in as much detail as you can. Use all five of your senses. What can you see in your imagination? Are there a lot of people? No people? Is time of year important? Does the weather matter? What specifically are you doing? Can you hear any sounds? What smells do you think there are surrounding you?

 

When you are done imagining your perfect scene, take some time to jot down any important factors and then begin making a list of specific changes you need to make in order to make yourself happy. Happiness is within your grasp if you are willing to take concrete steps, even baby steps toward your own inner goals.

Maybe you need to:

  • spruce up your resume
  • make new friends
  • move to a new city
  • take up a new hobby
  • apply for that job
