I will admit to always be somewhat perplexed and at a loss for an answer when someone would ask me what I was grateful for.
Was it my family? No. I did not come from the type of family who were good to one another.
Was it my job? Nope… still not it. Who wants to go work full time at some office or some factory all day when you could be at the beach or watching your favorite show?
This is when I’d start to feel like I had nothing to be grateful for. I mean, when asked, many people respond with family or work.
So, I closed my eyes and asked myself what made me truly happy and the answer started as a soft whisper… unconditional acceptance, people who get me, people I can let my guard down with.
Then it hit me why I do love my job so much, even more than my favorite show. I get to offer unconditional acceptance to others on a daily basis.
I get to see how people really are and what they wish to be and it is an honor to be a part of the process of witnessing others become who or what they would like to be. And for that, I am truly grateful.
